There are literally thousands of recipes for sauces because there are so many different types and styles, ranging from creamy ones to zesty ones, simple ones with 2 or 3 ingredients, or something more complex. Some sauces are meant to be served over meat or fish, while others are better with chicken or even vegetables.

Gravy also has many variations and you can use meat drippings, flour, butter, and seasonings to make something fresh-tasting and delicious, which will complement the meat so nicely. There are other ways to make gravy too, and you can even make vegetarian versions to serve over your vegetables.

How to Pick a Tasty Recipe

We have categorized recipes by type, so you can find all the creamy sauces together, all the fish marinades together, and so on. Unless you are looking for a specific recipe, simply browse what we have and you might find something exciting which is going to complement your meal perfectly.

You will probably already have a lot of the ingredients in the kitchen, all of them possibly, since a lot of our recipes are based on very few ingredients, and some will require components from the meat you just cooked, such as the drippings form the pan, which would otherwise be discarded.

If you are cooking a spicy dish, consider a creamy sauce which is going to contrast with the spicy flavors. Similarly if you are making something with a delicate-tasting fish, a lemon and garlic based sauce would complement the fish without overwhelming the aromatic taste of it. Use your own judgment to find the perfect accompaniment to the dish.
