Dessert Sauces

Let These Finish Your Dessert to Perfection

Whatever dessert you are serving, there is a wonderful sauce which can be drizzled or poured over the top, served on the side, or even incorporated into the dessert itself. A good sauce should not only harmonize with the dessert but also bring something new to the dish, such as a contrasting flavor, a splash of color, or a new texture. A creamy sauce is great with many cake or pie recipes because it adds moisture to the dish, and you can serve hot or chilled cream sauces. Caramel or other very sweet, sticky sauces are another appealing option and these are gorgeous served over ice cream or cheesecake. Chocolate gravy is indulgent and gorgeous, and well worth making yourself.

Easy Dessert Sauces

While some dessert sauces can be made in advance, others need to be prepared just before serving, although the dessert itself might have been prepared beforehand. A lot of these sauces feature very few ingredients and take mere minutes to prepare. Examples of delicious dessert sauces include salted caramel sauce to drizzle over vanilla ice cream, a fluffy fresh cream sauce which is beautiful served with a rich chocolate dessert to add a contrasting tangy taste, and even an unusual spicy lemon sauce which is great ladled over cake to add moisture to the dish along with the distinctive tangy zing of citrus.

Christine Szalay-Kudra

Hello, I'm Christine. Thanks for dropping by and welcome to Amazing Sauces. Food is a very important part of our family's lives, and I find a homemade sauce often finishes a dish perfectly. Whether you are making something with chicken, beef, pork, vegetables, an appetizer, or even a dessert recipe, a sauce is often the ideal finishing touch.

You will find many sauce recipes here, all conveniently in one place, from the classics like tomato sauce, béchamel sauce and cheese sauce, to gravies, marinades, and unusual ideas for sauces too like ginger-plum sauce or gorgonzola sauce.

Some sauces can be drizzled over the meal, while others are best served on the side. Some will work as a dip or sauce, while others are great for basting, marinating or adding a splash of color to a recipe. Try our creamy gravies with your breakfast, one of our international steak marinades for a sophisticated spin on dinner, or learn how to make a classic béarnaise or rich red wine sauce to complement your dish.

Thanks for visiting,

Christine
