Wine Sauces for an Elegant Touch

You can add a gourmet touch to the simplest meal just by adding a wine sauce. This type of sauce can be made with red, white or rose wine, and the result might range from very sweet to very spicy or perhaps tart or bitter. A wine sauce can be served with your appetizer, main dish or dessert, and some of them use fortified wines such as port wine or brandy, rather than your favorite Chardonnay or Cabernet Sauvignon. A splash of wine can liven up a cream sauce, add complex flavors to a meat drippings-based gravy, or add a sophisticated twist to a fruity dessert sauce. Some sauces just include a splash of wine while others are wine-based, maybe 30% wine or even more.

Add Wine for Instant Sophistication

There are plenty of different recipes for wine sauces, ranging from creamy white sauces which boast the fragrant appeal of white wine, and would be beautiful served with fish or over vegetables, all the way through to the most robust port wine sauce which could very easily grace a plate of filet mignon and also resonate with the flavor of the mashed potatoes and side dish. A sweet chocolate sauce enhanced with red wine could be the ideal condiment to bring your ice cream sundae to the next level. Whichever kind of result you are looking for, there is certainly a place for wine in sauce recipes, and cooking the sauce means cooking off much of the alcohol but leaving that lovely wine flavor in there.

Hello, I'm Christine. Thanks for dropping by and welcome to Amazing Sauces. Food is a very important part of our family's lives, and I find a homemade sauce often finishes a dish perfectly. Whether you are making something with chicken, beef, pork, vegetables, an appetizer, or even a dessert recipe, a sauce is often the ideal finishing touch.

You will find many sauce recipes here, all conveniently in one place, from the classics like tomato sauce, béchamel sauce and cheese sauce, to gravies, marinades, and unusual ideas for sauces too like ginger-plum sauce or gorgonzola sauce.

Some sauces can be drizzled over the meal, while others are best served on the side. Some will work as a dip or sauce, while others are great for basting, marinating or adding a splash of color to a recipe. Try our creamy gravies with your breakfast, one of our international steak marinades for a sophisticated spin on dinner, or learn how to make a classic béarnaise or rich red wine sauce to complement your dish.

Thanks for visiting,

Christine
